Peace and tranquility……Tuesday 29th January..

Tuesday 29th January

A lazy day today. We have left one island and come to Don Det, a small island in the middle of the Mekong river, close to the Cambodian border. We have booked into a nice place with a pool….our first one in over a month…..We feel like we deserve it!
The island is populated by a few guest houses and restaurants…..little else other than beaches on the riverbank to laze on.
It’s an opportunity to recharge the batteries, so to speak.
I’m currently sat on a sandy beach watching the final moments of daylight. The only sounds are the distant ‘chug chug’ of tiny local fishing boats. Otherwise, silence. Bliss…….
Hope to see some river dolphins (Irwaddy dolphins) tomorrow…..and another waterfall!
