Friday 15th and Saturday 16th February…..Phnom Penh…
Well, what a great city this is. We have all loved every minute of our stay here……
Yesterday we visited S21, the prison used by the Khmer Rouge from 1975-1979 for torturing thousands of prisoners during Pol Pots regime.
Today we visited the killing fields used by the Khmer Rouge at the same time. Up to three million of a population of only eight million were murdered in the most brutal ways imaginable. In recent times, too. Both days were mentally very demanding and it was a lot to ‘take in’. We are exhausted but it was important to understand a little of Cambodia’s terrible history. It’s difficult to correlate the tragic history with the latter day people who are so gentle and friendly.
Tomorrow we leave this great city at around 6 am to head towards the Vietnam border…….
It’s kind of the last leg of our journey…….

It’s going to start to feel different with the days counting down and getting closer to coming home. Treasure each moment, each day x x x
